ABOUT TONY FELIX

Tony is an executive personal trainer and coach with a background in teaching and coaching martial arts, teaching tai chi, college tutoring and some voluntary counselling for a hospital cancer ward that he integrated with NLP and other self development studies to successfully coach clients to more focused decision making.

He has undertaken 35 years of martial arts training and has also been teaching the arts for 20 years. He has represented the United Kingdom in Kung Fu and Tai Chi and attributed his success to using modern sports performance coaching techniques to enhance traditional martial practices. Because of his self-coached success he went on to coach British champions and has also Teams in international competitions. He views teaching as shaping, coaching as sharpening and counselling as aligning.

After retiring from international competition he went into personal fitness training and this led to coaching clients into a more complete state of body and mind. Tony had also worked within the fashion and advertising industries and uses the knowledge of body aesthetics to embed a healthy mindset into his clients’ health, lifestyle and fitness desires. The ‘New NLP’ framework of integrated mind and body fit perfectly with the beliefs his training methods emphasised. In fact he often uses physical exercise to bring clients to more accessible or positive states to enhance coaching strategies.

He applies ancient principles like ‘As Above, So Below. As Within, So Without’ and ‘Strong Mind in a Strong Body’ which enable clients to discern patterns that effect their work, family and other aspects of their lives. For example preparing for an imaginary boxing contest will often prepare clients for negotiations and eureka moments often occur while clients are in the midst of training exercises or drills. Being brought to these moments of unconscious competence in exercise can serve as a powerful tool for life-change.
